Cold Star Stitch Markers

I don't know what it is about having a cold that makes me want to write, but here I am again. Not knowing or caring if anyone reads this; it's more like an extension of or an explanation for the pictures that I post elsewhere... more of a journal than blog, really.

Last night, I made 6 sets of 12mm Czech glass star stitch markers. I was just about to start the sets of smaller stars, when the power went out on our entire block for about a 30 minutes. Since our furnace isn't fit to use, we had the space heater and my stitch marker supplies set up in J's room where his computer would also help generate heat. Not having heat or power sort of snapped me out of denial, and when the power came back on I submitted to my uncontrollable cough. Also, Graffiti the Cat had pinned me down for heat, so continuing my work on these stitch markers was out of the question.

Now it's the next day - the day after Christmas. I'm still on this hard futon in the spare room. My leg is asleep, my nose is runny, my cough hurts, but I don't think it'll get much worse. At least I can breath.

Blueberry Loaf Recipe

3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp finely shredded lemon peel
1 beaten egg
1/4 cup of cooking oil (I use grape seed oil)
1 2/3 cup milk
1 cup of blueberries, fresh or frozen

Preheat oven to 350 and grease up your loaf pan. Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl and form a well in the center, set aside. Mix beaten egg, milk and oil in a medium bowl and pour all at once into the dry ingredients. Mix until all is moist, batter will be lumpy. Fold in blueberries.

Pour into loaf pan and bake for an hour to an hour and 20 minutes or until toothpick test turns out clean. Let cool for about 10 minutes.

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle a little bit of honey over it all for a good dose of happiness.

Oh Boy

I don't catch colds often, but when I do the symptoms are never mild enough to allow me to carry on with business as usual. As soon as I got home last night my nose started getting all stuffed up. Here I am now, middle of the day and still in bed snuggling with the cats.

The sun shines brightly, then it gets dark, and the room lighting changes again and again as I type this. Of course, I'd rather not be feeling this sick, but then again, I can't think of anything else I could be enjoying more right now if I wasn't. Here I can rest and exist with or without my senses, thoughts, dreams or reality.

Today there is no worry. My desire, thirst and hunger will move me forward. Just as everyday should be...

Another fun assignment

(three phrases in apposition)+(coordinating conjunction)+(subject/verb)+(participial phrase)+(participle)

Commuters crowding the roads, occupations molding the lives, commercials feeding the minds, and I smile at the sky, the money escaping from my hands, circling.

Pier extending from the sand, the marsh filling the foundation, the frog sitting in the corner, and I skip over the planks, big heads showing off their teeth, grinning.

Test 3

This was a nice tune to listen to on my way home tonight.

Test 2

This is my little cat named Fiti. She likes to sleep on my lap. Like most cats, Fiti hates going to the vet. One thing Fiti is really good at is sneaking out and coming back, pretending like she never left.
